M. Duane Archer’s FxCodex Managed Account Program
Exclusively with Gain Capital

Duane Archer is a 30 year veteran of the commodity futures and currency markets. He has been a trader, researcher, writer and lecturer. For several years he managed the Heinold Commodities Honolulu, Hawaii office. As a CTA in the 1980s-1990s he managed approximately $20m USD. Managed Account Reports for his Jonathan’s Wave trading program (an expert system-neural net program years ahead of its time) showed a 48% ROI with a 0(zero) expectation of a 50% drawdown.

His recent book, Getting Started in Currency Trading (John Wiley & Sons, 2005) is a best-seller in its area. A sequel, Getting Started in Forex Strategies will appear in early 2007. John Wiley & Sons is also publishing his Currency Companion series.

The FxCodex program consists of a:
(1) A fully mechanical method, The Trend Machine (based on cellular automata),
(2) The Goodman Swing Count System (an improvement on Elliott),
(3) Leading-edge statistical filters developed in the Currency Companion series of books and
(4) The invaluable experience of 30 years of trading.

The FxCodex program is approximately 70% mechanical and 30% judgmental, although those percentages can vary from trade to trade.

The program monitors 3 Primary markets and 5 Secondary Markets at all times; the makeup of these groups may rotate over time.

Archer rates himself as a very conservative trader, utilizing the ‘Belgian Dentist’ risk-adverse approach he learned in the 1970s from his mentor Charles B. Goodman. While most trades in the FxCodex program will be day trades, he is not inherently a scalper and from time to time trades may roll over several sessions. His goal is a 100% per-annum return on exceptionally low risk parameters of trading volume, lot size, small number of currency pairs traded and low concurrent commitment of equity.
